Prepare for the relevant assessment
Aged care providers may seek private assistance to understand requirements, review evidence and prepare for a quality assessment. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s regulatory audit process remains separate from any privately purchased preparation engagement.
Tell us your provider category if known, the service setting and the purpose of the enquiry. A hich standards or requirements its work addresses, how it will review actual practice and what report or action plan it will provide. Ask how current its knowledge is and what falls outside the engagement. A private readiness report does not replace a Commission audit, confer provider registration or guarantee a favourable regulatory result.
Agree a practical review scope
A readiness engagement can examine how your organisation understands and applies requirements in everyday services. Ask the consultant to identify the criteria, locations, records and processes it will review. Clarify whether the work includes staff discussions, evidence sampling or a written improvement plan. The engagement should focus on genuine practice rather than simply supplying a set of policies.
Protect resident and worker information
The initial enquiry should describe the organisation and the purpose of the review without attaching individual care records. If the engagement requires access to sensitive information, agree the purpose, access controls and confidentiality arrangements directly with the receiving business. Ask whether deidentified information can meet the review purpose.
Keep official obligations in view
Your organisation remains responsible for responding to the Commission, meeting applicable
requirements and managing official deadlines. A consultant can explain the scope of its private
work, but cannot promise registration, an audit rating or a particular regulatory decision.
Confirm any official audit arrangements through the appropriate Commission process.
